New calibration of education

1950 : Constitution making was in process. Dr. B. R. Ambedakr wanted to introduce reservation for backward castes to uplift them.

2006 : New law making in process. Government wants to increase the reservation in educational institutions to increase their votebank.

Effect will be the same. But only the cause of implementations differ. If Manmohan Singh cabinet approves a notification to introduce 27% reservation for OBCs in 20 central universities, IITs and II Ms, the seats available for general quota will drastically go down. In IITs, where the fight for entry is very fierce, there will be cut down of 1300 general candidate seats. In IIMs, considered as most prestigious business schools in country, the number would be around 200. This would only lead to lack of emergence of technocrats and businessmen in a country already facing a problem of brain drain.

When reservation was first introduced in constitution make-up, the situation was entirely different. Backward people were put down to earth, they werent considered equal among others. So, there was certain need to make conditions better for them. But now the scenario has changed. Caste basis is nor more considered a criterion. Everyone is getting equal opportunites in all the fields may it be education or may it be employment. So, why in the name of the hell is this new reseravtion is being introduced?? It will be very pathetic to think that one half of the country is being nurtured not on merit but on other considerations. Government has to understand that by introducing this reseravtion they are depriving people from general quota of their seats. The technical profession requires people of high talent and so we need to respect merit as criterion for admission. If at all government wants to help the OBC people, they may consider options of scholarships or spending extra money to prepare the youth for selection process.

As I am writing this post, I recieve a message from my friend stating that 'ALL IIT AND IIM STUDENTS HAVE DECIDED TO BOYCOTT CLASSES ON 17TH APRIL 2006 MONDAY IN PROTEST AGAINST 50% RESERVATION !!!! ' Is this really going to make government re-think its policy?? When the Supreme court delivered its controversial judgement in 2005 abolishing all the caste-based reservations in unaided private colleges, it provoked a backlash that has since revived the relatively dormant Mandal issue. But, our Parliament amended the constitution within four months to roll back the apex court verdict and maintain status quo. So, it is only a matter of time before Government enforces this 27% percent increase in reservation. Last time, when V.P.Singh introduced the Mandal quota in jobs, it led to a bloody anti-reservation stir with some people even self immolating. While that may not happen this time, a heated debate is on the cards.

P.S : By writing such a post, I didnt mean any kind of offence to any seciton of our community

Confused totally

I am lazily moving around in the bed..... doesnt feel like getting up and moving to the classrooms where an spactacle-eyed prof keeps blabbering.. not even a piece of it gets into our minds... so what next?? I would love to have one more deep slumber..... the hot summer getting horrible day by day... making things more diffiult to attend the classes... infact making even the slighest chance to attend classes (for the sake of attendence, though :D) go to the gutter. So what am I doing?? just sitting before the comp... even that has become difficult these days ... thanks to the large count of hours that i spent on the comp last few months, I am developing an opthamology problem :((...

The good news is that the old bot quizroom is back and I am able to get those 69's back :D.... and with 'naka and Oz'(the two grand old men of quizroom) spending considerable time in the room, it has become more interesting and challenging now.... all those typos, shits, fk's, jas slow's, they are all back again...lol, that's gonna be fun!! I bet!!!

Believe me, I really dont know what to write.... I am just killing time these days.. and this post is a part of it. Presently, I am just spending away time watching movies and series like friends, how i met your mother, prison break..... is this the reason I am here?? worked my ass off for two years during 11th and 12th... just to find ways to forcibly spend time in the country's premier institute ?? well, the other day someone was saying kgp has been declared world's second best institute by some esteemed magazine (I remember, I even got a GPL for saying something silly about it the very next moment :D)... so what am I doing here in such a place.... no sports and games.... no CG (being in a loadless department is an invisible curse i guess)... just letting life go by.... uff, this sucks

Ok, whatever, I was browsing through the net and found these two really good online riddles
One is from notpron....deathball riddle
Second one from IIMI..... Klueless riddle
They are just like the online hunt kgp junta had during kshitij time... that was totally confined to kshitij's website.. but these two are too cool... just try them once. Dont try to use the spoilers available in the net...

Ok, then I will get back to my catnaps. BUH BYE

Love - A crap post with hi-fi name

I was just lying lazy from the past few days. Was thinking of a post but then i couldnt make out what to write. Then one of my best friends suggested me the hottest topic ever -Love !!! already hot, huh?? Initially I thought who will write and read about love.... junta has much more important work to do in life.... but then , see you are here reading this.... thats the power of love??or is it not??

Why am I posting this one month after valentine's day got over? Too late, hun? Is love off the air now? No, no, they say love is eternal.... isnt it?

I still remember the days of my OP (u may as well read this as 'ragging') in RP Hall. We went to this wing where we were asked to enact a GD - the topic being love. Well, at that time I was in the anti-love team(hehe, in those days anti-love was one of my orkut communities :P) and I guess I have done that GD excellently :D!!! But then I am a changed(or transformed?? therez a lot of difference) guy now. I hate it nomore. I have even unjoined that community in orkut...... Wait , wait that doesnt mean I am in love... well, yeah somethings are better left incomplete....

But then whats this love all about? Is it great to be in love? Or is it just another useless burden to this pathetic life?? How do people fall in love? Will they ever get up again?? Does love has this immaculate power to transform morons into super guys?? (Well, then if that's the case dont u think everyone should start loving someone? :P) The answers to all these questions.......... God knows!!!

I was in my 12th when one of my friends loved a girl. Well, the others never thought it was love and it was just only attraction. He had the potential to crack JEE, but he lost it ,thanx to the love he found out in his life. And his condition is no better now. The girl left him (he woudnt agree it though). I thought it was too early for love..... again has love got anything to do with age?? Is it inversely or directly proportional to age or something like that?? alright then if u want a more proffessional post about love, check out naka's blog.... GOD!!! what has he got in him that he writes such beautiful posts?? Well, personally I am a great fan of naka!!!

Ok, coming back to this love, there were instances when a guy kills the gal he loved just because she didn't accept his love!!! Was that love?? I mean how he could ever live without her after he killed her if he really loved her?? Isnt that insane?? Or is it real love?? Or is it that insanity is the extremity of love?? Gosh!! Wish someone can answer my questions!!

But, then isnt love great?? Isnt it great to be in love?? Werent there any instances when love has done wonders to people?? Do people go mad?? Does love make a person mad?? What has love got in it that people die for the sake of it?? Is it really such a pleasant feeling to love someone?? Well, questions are now pouring down.... so , let's not get confused anymore.... go by your own way and answer them as u want them to be!!!

It's useless to speak about failure stories in love. There's no need to talk about success stories. So, on the whole, is it a waste of time to talk of love??

As I am writing this post, I am hearing the song from Neal n Nikki

"Like a dream that cant explain, love can change the beating of your heart
Like the sunshine in the rain, love can make your whole world fall apart!!! "
(Is it?? does love really do that??)

"Suddenly, everything has turned me inside out
Suddenly, lovez a thing that I cant live without...
You are my dream, my love, my life
I jas wanna spend my life with you
You are the one that makes me smile
I jas wanna spend my life with you......."

Forget the love thing!!! This song rocks, guyzz!!!!
Chalo then, I will take leave now... hey but thanx to my friend who suggested me this topic :)

Essence of life

Pictures do speak
And these pics have left an impression on me...
So just thought I would blog them.....

Nature at it's best : Well, I can sit back and keep watching for hours just this nature.... the sunrise, the sunset.... the twilight,.... a group of birds flying over before the sun sets,.... the tender leaves swaying to the breeze,.... a single bird sitting on a branch and singing in search of it's soulmate,... late nights in summer on a full moon day with the sweet smell of jasmines,.... the aroma of the soil just before it rains....!!!! Now, dont you tell me that you dont love them !!!

Sunny Morning on a Winter day: Well, what else can u ask for?? The sun peeping out from behind the clouds, with the cool zephyr blowing against your face, when you stroll out with your loved ones on such a winter morning.... aah, this is life!!! Get out of the beds, you lazy bugs :P !!!

Freedom in Life : Just keep roaming!!! go here, go there !!!go places, take roads!! no restrictions, no boundaries!! Move anywhere under the sky, into the vast lands, to anyplace over the earth.... that's freedom. Live life to the fullest!!! You never get back the passed life.. try to live the present to the fullest.... and slowly your tantalizng future turns into a memorable past...

Peace and Tranquility : Just sit down idle... play with your soft memories... think of the good days... never worry about future.... remember a kid playing with the soft and bubbling waves on a sea beach!!! Who says introverts are dull and uninteresting??? Attitude does speak, buddy..... believe me, every person is an introvert in himself... its only that people are afraid to be thought of as boring and geek!!

Cricket - Redefined

I am writing this post after I witnessed the best one day game in cricket history ever, infact one of the greatest games the world sports have ever seen. Two hours back I was on my way to SN hall day(read it as always-a-much-awaited but never-upto-the-mark occassion). I got these two invitations from my dep mates. Initially I thought.. come on who would move his ass all the way to go to some crap. But then ... ok chalo lets see how the bandhis live.... and then I was on my way. On the way lies our hallz common room and I jas stepped in to have a look at score. Who would have thought that step would deprive me off my chance to go to SN for the first time :((. Saw that Australia have made 434 and South Africa were well in chase with 250 in around 28 overs. This seemed much interesting than SN :D !!! Believe me, guys!!!

I am not a cricket fanatic. I am not even a regular follower of cricket. Then why am I making a post about cricket?? Bcoz this was something special. This was extraordinarily special. This was a day when all the adjectives in the dictionary together wouldnt suffice to explain what was going on in Johannesburg. And still if u feel I am writing crap by this post, then lemme tell u my blog is supposed to give out what my brain has got and presently it has nothing except this crap cricket :D.... Ok, let me tell u this post isnt a review of the match... this is a replica of how everyone felt before my eyes in the common room... friends shouting their hearts out when the ball has been hit for the max, crying angrily when the SA batsman miss out on a ball, jumping with their asses out of chair when Gibb's catch was dropped, when Vanderwalth hit sixes from nowhere in times of dying hope..... this is CRICKET at its best. Forget F1, forget football, forget basketball... this is why cricket rules . Yeha, cricket does rule !!! This is it.. this is the time when u know why during schooltimes we used to bunk classes jas to watch some willows and the ball doing the business!!

If I remember correctly someone said 'Cricket is a game being played by 22 fools with a stupid ball and thousands of fools watching it'. Why the hell did he say that? If we all are fools by seeing this match, then yeah, we are fools. Actually today it should be 'Cricket is a game played by 22 players(well, fools according to that guy,but never mind) with great willows(feels rather unpleasant to speak of the ball today)............. ' . What can one say about the batting display by both the teams today?? devastating, demolishing, exhilarating, astonishing... and what can one say about the game?? amazing, thrilling, miracle ..... God!! why dont i know more adjectives in english :( ... It seemed like the day of greatest massacre of the ball by the bat in cricket history today.. with Lewis recording the worst figures for a bowler... but then who would want to be a bowler on such a day??...(my sympathy to Lewis :D)..... this is a day that would go down in history... a day of swinging hopes, a day of only miracles.

Well, then who cares what all I write about the match... In the end all that matters is South Africa have pulled out a stunner from nowhere and they have won the greatest game ever played. Why in the hell would have Ponting dreamt this end at the half way stage after his own assault.... ok who on earth would have expected this was going to come !!!!! But then, this has happened... and thats why I say CRICKET - REDEFINED

WE - the kgpians

The other day, my friend asked me to suggest a topic to write in his blog. I immediately asked him to write about our life at kgp. He thought it was a good idea, but he dint start it yet.
So I thought I would do it, I would write all the holy crap that we do over here.

When we first came to kgp after doing 12th (infact most of us working hard on our asses for one more year to crack the prestigious JEE), we thought we were stepping into some magical land, a land into which the very entry guarantees a rocking life ahead, a land of course full of fairies :D for these spectacled and worn out eyes. But then, we got nothing of what we expected. Disgusting off-campus views, boring bandis on campus, terrifying labs( the electrical lab standing tall among them), those owl-faced profs trying to corner students whenever and wherever possible......... Well some amount of the dissapointment can be attributed to the topographical and geographical location of IIT campus ( no offence bongs). And on the other side of this coin is the great fortune that everyonez in kgp is sure to get their hands on..... Friends and i got lots and lots of them..... shared, remo, dave, goldy, shaggy, naggy, dontam ....... the list goes.... it was like an unglued bond between us and as time grew it just strengthened. May be there were some minor frictions in between, but then we were good enough to come through them. Then there were these late night combined studies during these exam days ( typical IITians style), running off to canteen at 1 am and 2 am excusing it as a break during studies ( well, to be frank we never really deserved those breaks).... can i ever forget them? And those night walks to bidhan(read it as 'vidhan') chowk, chatting with friends all through the nights, some of my friends running to CIC every evening to chat with newly found online gf's (thanks to the IIT tag that we wear now :D) owing to lack of comps in our rooms. Well, that was hell lot of a first year. I actually wanted not to talk about this thing, but i guess if i dont i wont do justice to iit life... yeha.. the CGPA - cumulative grade point average- it sucked for everyone of us and it sucked like hell . Know how it feels when seniors say our batch has makhaoed in terms of CG.. gosh!! life sucks :(( . Most of my friendz dreams of maroing a dep-c coming down to pieces.. well that was meant to be so with this kinda life style.. so no regrets :D

And then came the 2nd year and with it brought the hall OP and the hall tempo... a one month of gruelling OP (should i use the term 'gruelling' for RP hall... luv ya RP!!) and then things were normal again. With all those Inter-halls, all those tempo shouts, the tensiona nd excitement surrounding each and every match of every sport ....and that astonishing Illu work, the effort that goes into it from each hall(I can bet Illu is one of the few things in kgp that IITians prove their true worth :D)... the fights between halls for the GCs, the determination of players representing the halls... that can be only felt, right?? Wait, coming into 2nd year gave us a license at home to get our hands onto comps and GOD!!! we should have restrained ourselves..... it came and along with it brought disaster.. with LAN contributing its part in this holy work. What can one say when I sit all the night, watch some stupid comedy series and bunk the whole bunch of classes next morning. Isnt that meant to be peak level of stupidity? But then thats how life has been in kgp for years and it will be so for years to come... the best thing about 2nd year was we found out cheddis... the most memorable part in my kgp life would be walking out with friends at 2 am 3 am anytime to cheddis, sitting there for an hour or two, oh god... the very thought of life without cheddis scares me!! oops.. I forgot about orkut... presently the very food and bread of kgpian (well, atleast for most of them), trying to catch fish in orkut after having not-so-good-to-eye looking gals in kgp.Hmm, all the best to all those hard working guys.

Then there are these SFs and Kshitijs... trying to add color to life in kgp...but growing with time.. these are getting bored... stop it guys!!! they rnt worth it.

Thats what life at kgp is like. This is US at kgp. This is how we do things here. And we love this place. Though we always get disappointed by it being not in a metro, by that crappy stuff they make over here in mess and they need a mess secretary to do that!!!... lol !!! (thank god all kgpians have same say in atleast one thing :P), by getting frust with our acads here, by seeing kgp going down in ranks year by year...... we still luv it. Luv ya kgp. When we go back home for holidays and sit and think then we know its value. Well, to be frank it feels like hell to be out of kgp. This life has been like a tradition for years and it will continue to be so.

I guess trying to cut down two years life in kgp in few lines is foolishness. But still........ ok, yeah I am a fool :D!!!! Uff, thats it. See ya soon bbye

All the way from start again

Well back I am here with my new blog. Actually I sort of created a blog some 5 months back, even posted some crap and then donno why but i abandoned it (guess i have become too much of an iitian). But then i have been trying to start a whole new blog from the past two weeks and here I am finally with one. Wish this goes on atleast :D. But now the problem is what should i write? I am no good at english to create mind-blowing blogs like some of my friends do. And I am no good at writing previews or reviews but i should write something. Am I screwing it up? (plzzz answer it NO)

After that Kolkata incident which most of u might have read it from my friend's (u may as well read it as my best friend's) blog, i feel we guys have become a whole new bunch. May be our behavior hasnt changed much, but then our thoughts have. Lots of comments and response to that incident has made us realise a lot. I dont understand a thing when people say this world is going places. The concern everyone showed for Siva after that incident was simply heart-touching. Wishes from NIT Warangal , IIT Bombay, IIT Chennai, IIIT Hyd!!!! Man what else does one need other than people saying they are for him in the hour of need. OK, let me stop this. This time may be I am going places. From somewhere to nowhere? may be!! Anyways love u Siva and once again kudos to all those knights who have given their hearts out in the hour of unwanted and tragic destiny. And what contributes to make that incident eternal in our minds and remember the essence of friendship is that blog. Luv u lots 'SHARED' ( u better dont get any ideas, huh?). Thanks to all those who have cared to know about the accident and shared their concern with us.

Here ends my first post and I hope I would be continuing this blog positively coz its high time I need to do something useful, something gainful in life.
BBYE
